I think a combination of piano playing and chat based online gaming (Habbo Hotel/Runescape) as a child helped boost mine! Would love to see how I compare.

Oof nowhere near as fast as you! I've done typing tests before and got in the 60s so I can't even blame the test. I do use a weird layout, a custom layout in fact, but I feel it's easier for me so who knows how slow I'd be on QWERTY.

I got a new squishy cheap light-up membrane since OP, got 125 this time! Kind of a useless skill though because there's nothing I can do that can think that fast anyway. Well, useless other than spam selling stuff on Runescape and Habbo Hotel back in the day at least. ;)

I think piano playing since 10 helped also.

You're right, the only thing it is good for is for digitising records.

Yeah I was using Workman layout for a few years but it remaps several common shortcut keys and that kept throwing me off and got too frustrating. So I designed my own layout which ended up pretty close to Colemak. It keeps all common shortcuts the same (most of left hand) and then optimises the rest based on my experience with Workman and looking at Colemak too while trying not to move keys which are good enough where they are. It's a compromise layout and I'm loving it

Last I checked, I was at about 150/160 WPM. This is because I legit took a typing class, couldn't do the whole "home keys" yada yada, and had to prove I was better without using that by typing fast.

Probably a bit slower now, but every time I'm typing people get mad because it's so fast (and I make clacky sounds on normal keyboards). 😂

But I have to correct/fix one of these words & description:

Lebensabschnittpartner => Lebensabschnittsgefährte

It's the official word for married similar relationships. So some time ago gay-couples weren't allowed to marry - so they were Lebensabschnittsgefährten. It's not a derogatory word.
