This sounds great tbh, they'll likely get a lot more resources (look at how much GitHub has improved recently) and better integrations between Github and NPM sounds great too.

I agree! I think it's good news. NPM's previous funding strategy of VC money with no other real revenue was not going to end well for the end user. I believe GitHub is a safe(r) pair of hands.
