I’m sure you have probably heard of desert island discs, where you pick 5 discs (records/albums) you would want to have with you stuck on a desert island for the rest of your days.

What about with apps/websites?

Let’s assume you’ve got WiFi, a device of your choice and power and for some reason none of these enable you to get home (humanity has banished you? 😂).

I’d probably take...
  • Twitter
  • Messenger
  • Spotify
  • YouTube
Hmm... if my desert island has a postal address then Amazon as well. 😅

Edit: Web browsers and app stores are cheating! 👀

You really don't realise how many apps you use in a day until you try and pick 5 😱
I think for me it would have to be:
  1. Garmin Connect
  2. Strava
  3. Messenger
  4. Spotify
  5. Starling, although not sure how much use a banking app would be on an island 🤔

Geez, this is tough. I'm going to assume we're allowed to bring external items as well. (I'd bring a guitar):

I would bring:

1) iMovie (for recording and editing videos)
2) Instagram (for posting these videos, and for chatting with friends)
3) Youtube (for keeping up with the latest music and for binge-watching)
4) The Google Chrome app (for web browsing and everything else)
5) Maybe Twitter, I don't know

I think I’d go with
  • Youtube - For learning things like how to live on a deserted island
  • Spotify - for entertainment
  • Twitter - for contacting the outside world
  • Safari - or at least some browser app
  • Reddit - learning, entertainment, asking for help

Abuse myself how? By using Chrome?
It's just that, using those all those services through a mobile browser tends to be a very clunky experience that I wouldn't recommend. Layering the native browser gestures on top of the gestures which are specific to each app gets really rough too.

Ooo interesting! Assuming I'd have internet, even if I couldn't use it to send help:
- Messenger
- Instagram (#beachlife #sunkissed #blessedtobehere #seagullstolemyshoes)
- Youtube to watch PrimitiveTechnology so I can learn how to make a lil cob cabin
- Pinterest for ideas to decorate my lil cabin and recipes for coconut and crab
- Something to develop on

This is actually sounding amazing. Can't wait for the Webwide meetup on Unnamed Desert Island #5
